Introduction

Welcome to Ren. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Ren mobile application ("App") operated by Ren ("we," "our," or "us").
By accessing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the Terms, you may not access or use the App.

Ren is designed with your privacy in mind:
  • No Backend Server: We do not operate backend servers that store your personal data or chat history.
  • Local Storage: Your chat history, preferences, and profile information are stored locally on your device.
  • Third-Party Processing: Your chat messages are sent directly to OpenAI for processing and are not stored on our servers.
  • Analytics: We use Firebase for analytics and app functionality, which processes certain data according to Google's privacy policy.

Use of the App Eligibility
You must be at least 17 years of age to use the App. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you are at least 17 years old and that your use of the App does not violate any applicable laws or regulations.

User Accounts
When you create an account with us, you must provide accurate, complete, and current information during the onboarding process. This information is stored locally on your device. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activities that occur under your account.

AI Chat Features
The App provides AI-powered chat functionality that allows you to interact with various AI personas. You understand and acknowledge that:
  • The AI responses are generated using OpenAI's technology and may not always be accurate, complete, or appropriate
  • Your messages are sent directly to OpenAI for processing and are not stored on our servers
  • The AI personas are simulations and do not represent real individuals
  • We do not guarantee the availability, accuracy, or reliability of the AI chat features
  • Your conversations with the AI are stored locally on your device and may be used to improve our services, as described in our Privacy Policy

Role-Playing Features
The App offers various AI personas or "roles" that you can interact with. You agree that:
  • These roles are fictional and for entertainment purposes only
  • You will not use the role-playing features for any harmful, illegal, or inappropriate purposes
  • We reserve the right to modify, add, or remove roles at any time

Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the App:
  • In any way that violates any applicable laws or regulations
  • To generate or distribute harmful, abusive, or inappropriate content
  • To impersonate or attempt to impersonate us, our employees, another user, or any other person
  • To engage in any conduct that restricts or inhibits anyone's use or enjoyment of the App
  • To attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the App or any other systems or networks connected to the App
  • To use the App for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these Terms

Intellectual Property
The App and its original content, features, and functionality are and will remain our exclusive property. The App is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws of both the United States and foreign countries.

User Content
By submitting content to the App (including chat messages and preferences):
  • You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, and distribute your content in any existing or future media
  • You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to grant us this license
  • You understand that your content may be processed by OpenAI's systems as part of the AI chat functionality
  • You acknowledge that your content is primarily stored locally on your device and not on our servers
AI-Generated Content
You understand and agree that:
  • Content generated by the AI is provided "as is" without any warranties
  • We do not claim ownership of AI-generated content, but you may not use such content in a way that violates these Terms or applicable laws
  • AI-generated content may sometimes contain inaccuracies or inappropriate material despite our efforts to prevent this
  • You are responsible for how you use AI-generated content
  • AI-generated content is delivered directly from OpenAI to your device and is not filtered or modified by us beyond the initial prompt engineering

Data Privacy and Security
You acknowledge and agree that:
  • Most of your data is stored locally on your device
  • Your chat messages are sent directly to OpenAI for processing
  • We do not maintain copies of your chat messages on our servers
  • We use Firebase for analytics and app functionality
  • Your use of the App is also subject to our Privacy Policy

Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We specifically disclaim any warranty that:
  • The App will meet your requirements
  • The AI responses will be accurate, appropriate, or reliable
  • The App will be available on an uninterrupted, secure, or error-free basis

Limitation of Liability
In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of or inability to access or use the App.
IndemnificationYou agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to your violation of these Terms or your use of the App, including but not limited to your interactions with the AI features.

Third-Party Services
The App integrates with third-party services including OpenAI, Firebase. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third-party services.
TerminationWe may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach these Terms.

Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time.
